Description |
This image depicts the mosquito Ochlerotatus canadensis, formerly Aedes canadensis, commonly known as the woodland pool mosquito, which had alighted upon a human host’s arm, and was in the process of obtaining her blood meal. Having inserted her proboscis through the skin surface, if you look carefully, you can see the red blood climbing up the proboscis to the head region of the insect.
