Yes check.svg Fixed :) The author specified a typeface (Helvetica Neue) that isn't supported in MediaWiki, and since he didn't specify a font stack, the renderer defaults to Bitstream Vera Sans, which is is not at all metrically compatible with Helvetica. I just switched it to Arial and it's fine now. Fvasconcellos (t·c) 14:53, 18 July 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Image:(E)-di-tert-butyldiazene.png[edit]

Hi Tim. I just noticed that an image you created, Image:(E)-di-tert-butyldiazene.png, has an inaccurate description. (E)-di-tert-butyldiazene is not the same as AIBN (the difference being methyl group vs nitrile). See for example: Image:AIBN-2D-skeletal.png I'd fix the description myself, but I'm not sure if you intended it to be AIBN and the name and structure are off. Just thought I should let you know. (And thanks, by the way, for your support on my RFA). Edgar181 (talk) 20:51, 14 August 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Carboxysome image[edit]

Hi Tim—sorry, but I don't think that's feasible. First of all, those micrographs could never be recreated as an SVG; the best I can do is trace them, and that would (a) not even approach the accuracy of the original and (b) make for a huge, massive file. Same goes for the molecular models. The largest model looks like it could be recreated from scratch, but it would still be quite inaccurate compared to the original render, and I'm a perfectionist :(

If internalization is the only thing you're going for, I believe we could simply embed the PNG into an SVG file with a layer for vector text labels. I'm not sure how useful that would be, but it would make translation quite easy. The resident mapmakers, particularly Sting (talk · contribs), will know more about the process; raster images of relief data are frequently embedded in SVG topographic maps. Best as always (and sorry I couldn't really be of any help), Fvasconcellos (t·c) 02:19, 4 September 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Right, I didn't realize you were only thinking of embedding—I thought you wanted the whole image redone as a vector! <facepalm> Fvasconcellos (t·c) 16:15, 4 September 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Hello.
Like this ? Note that I converted the image into JPG so the file weight is not too heavy, the quality being almost equal as the original image already showed JPG artifacts.

Confessions to Tim Vickers[edit]

Our confession-We edit Wikipedia via sharing accounts, editing under behalf of one another.

Remember Standingout, MDCCCXLVIII-Well all accounts under Wikipedia came through our major longtime friend and confidant Martha Erin (she owns User talk:Marthaerin1888, User talk:Marthaerin1812 from Wikipedia, whose computer everyone shares very often. She created accounts for everybody including her and for everyone of us.

MDCCCXLVIII belongs to Martha's sister, Linda (she picked out MDCCCXLVIII because of the significant match to Wisconsin and toward the University of Wisconsin-Madison).

But somehow, sharing the accounts is being reconsidered because of the sock-puppet scandal which involves us. Which means-everyone should edit under one account while editing Wikipedia.

Martha Erin is choosing Marthaerin1812 upon her return (2010-earliest, and in 2017 at very latest) as her official account/permanent account.

Should we use our own computer to edit stuff on that Wikipedia rather than share accounts/computer?

We are currently attending UW-Lacrosse, graduates 2011 to 2014. And whatever answer you supply please make it very efficient.

How to Better Establish Yourself as a Wikipedia Operator[edit]

Hey Vickers=3 priority questions: I represent the account MDCCCXLVIII on Wikipedia that you blocked for "abusing multiple accounts"-I highly regret not realizing accounts shared by several users could be blocked before I was blocked indefinitely. I am taking semiretirement from Wikipedia until August 2014 although could return 2011 at earliest. BTW-Marthaerin1888 & Marthaerin1812 are my sisters' accounts (Martha Erin is her name).

Wikipedia policies are not clear about sharing computers with others while editing Wikipedia (our mistake was sharing sister's computer while creating edits with Wikipedia). I apologize for that.

Secondly, my MDCCCXLVIII talkpage-on August 18 2008, about 1110 am Minnesota=Wisconsin Time-was protected for so-called soapboxing related reason. I wouldn't advertise while editing Wikipedia nor would I operate Wikipedia as tabloids. But somehow, some editor (name not mentioned under privacy reasons) got concerned about my editing under my talkpage, after which the talkpage was protected due to alleged soapboxings. Please explain how this "using talkpage for soapbox might have really happened.

And thirdly-upon returning to edit Wikipedia articles, do please take this asking? Wikipedia Unblock rules may be getting stricter (Marthaerin1812, my sister's account-was protected from the talk page due to so called "timewasting"-I wanna avoid timewasting and abusing unblocks when making requests)-please tell me how me and Martha can request an unblock in non-abusive styles and educate us on abuse of the Unblock right here, please Tim Vickers.

Leishmaniasis[edit]

Hi, i was going over the changes you requested for the life cycle, but there are some points i dont really have clear:

  • your third point: "...only procyclic promastigotes replicate as they differentiate into non-replicative metacyclic promastigotes before migrating into the pharanyx,..."

is there a clear diference between procyclic promastigotes and metacyclic promasigotes? in the sense do they look diferent or i can use the sae promasigote image i have and i add only a note?

  • i just added the granulocite invasion becouse someone else wrote me about it and becouse the wikipedia article mentions it. would you think it wiser to go back to the original version when it infects macrophages?

-LadyofHats (talk) 22:22, 1 July 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

    • Six montsh later but i finally got the time to change it.. could you please check File:Leishmaniasis life cycle diagram en.svg and tell me what you think?
    • Also i have a question. you see i am working on the toxoplasmosis life cycle too. the problem is that must of the diagrams i could find show only the ways of trasmition but not the actual life cycle. the only fiagram i could find is thisbut is really unclear and i was wondering if you have any image. i am specially looking for the gaetophites and their form while inside the intenstine cells... -LadyofHats (talk) 23:55, 4 December 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
  • thankyou for you quick response, also about the Toxo. the image i need, or the part i am missing is what happens inside the cat. the image you show me only shows the parasite in the Cyst form and not really in its reproductive phase (the actual life cycle) you know what i mean?. as i said before many images on the net have only that, some symthoms and so, but what i would like to have is the diferent phases and reproduction of the parasite... I will change the leishmaniasis image once more to add your sugestions.. once again thank you -LadyofHats (talk) 19:00, 5 December 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hello, TimVickers!
Tip: Add categories to your images

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

Uploadwizard-categories.png

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

The factual accuracy of the chemical structure File:DTNB reaction with thiol.png is disputed[edit]

Dispute notification The chemical structure File:DTNB reaction with thiol.png you uploaded has been tagged as disputed and is now listed in Category:Disputed chemical diagrams. Files in this category are deleted after one month if there is no upload of a corrected version and if there is no objection from the uploader or other users. Please discuss on the file talk page if you feel that the dispute is inappropriate. If you agree with the dispute, you can either upload a corrected version or simply allow the file to be deleted.

In all cases, please do not take the dispute personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you! --Edgar181 (talk) 00:50, 13 December 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Category discussion warning

Category:Transcription has been listed at Commons:Categories for discussion so that the community can discuss ways in which it should be changed. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this category, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for discussion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it. If the category is up for deletion because it has been superseded, consider the notion that although the category may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new category.

In all cases, please do not take the category discussion personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you!
